    Sussex County Rehabilitation Program:

    Sussex County Community Development & Housing Department has funds for housing repairs and housing rehabilitation needs.

     

    Funds are limited and we provide services on a first-come first-serve basis.

     

    Applicants must:

    • Own their home and be a permanent resident of Sussex County
    • Meet income guidelines
    • Be current on their property taxes and utilities
    • Have an Insured/Insurable home

    Election Cancellation

    The Town of Slaughter Beach Election scheduled for Saturday, July 3, 2021, has been cancelled. As of the filing deadline of June 4, 2021, two candidates have filed for two open seats making no election necessary.
    The following two candidates have successfully filed for two open Town Council seats:
    Ivan Lanier
    Larry Meinert
    Each seat is for a two-year term. They will be sworn in at the July Town Council meeting.

    Maintenance Work Will Require the Closure of the Bridge over Cedar Creek-Sussex County

     

    Traffic Information:  DelDOT announces to motorists that their contractor will be performing repairs on the bridge over Cedar Creek on Route 36/Cedar Beach Road between Lighthouse Road and Wells Road.

    The closure will occur at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 3 until 11 p.m. on Monday, May 17, pending weather.

    Detour Routes:

    Motorists traveling east on Route 36/Cedar Beach Road will be detoured south on Route 1 to Slaughter Beach Road northeast to Bay Avenue.

    Motorists traveling west on Route 36/Cedar Beach Road will be detoured south on Bay Avenue to Slaughter Beach Road onto Route 1 and take Cedar Creek Road eastbound.

    Detour signage will be posted for motorists. At all times, residents will have access to their homes but may need to take the posted detour route.

    Delaware Food Bank is in Need of Local Community Support and is Offering Help to All in Need.

    During the Pandemic many local families find themselves in need.  You can help with food and/or monetary donations, as well as volunteering.  A food drop site is located off Airport Road in Milford.  For more information, please see their website: https://www.fbd.org/

     
    The frigid temperatures have forced many of our neighbors to seek assistance and in the interest of saving our constituents time in locating resources available to them, we are sharing information from the local branch of our Delaware Food Bank.  The Food Bank provides nutritious foods to Delawareans in need and facilitates long-term solutions to the problems of hunger and poverty through community education and advocacy. More information can be found here:   https://www.fbd.org/how-to-help-during-covid-19/
